Getting Passport + Visa Ready
In order to travel Sikkim (India) from Bangladesh by Bus, you need to have “PHULBARI” Port mentioned in your Indian Visa. You can apply for Indian Visa Online (https://indianvisa-bangladesh.nic.in/visa/Registration) in case you do not have any Indian Visa now. If you do not have port “PHULBARI” mentioned in your passport, you can apply for new port “PHULBARI”.
I did not have VISA, so I applied the VISA online, print hard copy, submitted in Jamuna Future Park India Visa Application Center on 13 October, 2019, got the visa on 17 October, 2019 (i just 4 days).
Papers /Things Must to Have
- Make sure you pay Government Travel Tax. They will give 2 receipts, one of that copy need to provide in Banglabandha Bangladesh Port (Customs Division)
- Pin up 1 Photocopy of Passport Page 3, 1 Visa Photocopy + Tax Receipt Copy.
- Make sure you have at least 8 Passport Photographs.
- Make sure you also have 8 sets of Photocopy / Xerox of Passport Page 3 + Visa Copy.
- If you are job holder, make sure you must have NOC copy from your office, make 8 photocopy of it.
Sikkim was once an individual state & later they merged with India on 1975. Sikkim have strong restrictions for the people of China, Myanmar, igeria
Journey Started on 31 October 2019
We booked our bus ticket @ Shyamoli NR TRAVELS, I believe this is the best bus right now based on my all previous experiences. Bus started at 8:30 pm from Kallyanpur Bus Stand.
First Day – NOVEMBER – 01, 2019 – ARRIVED BANGLABANDHA CUSTOMS & IMMIGRATION OFFICE
We reached Banglabandha port at 7:00 am. Port open at 9:00 am, by this time we completed our breakfast, toilet.
One of the main reasons of having Shyamoli NR Ticket is, the bus supervisor will do all the things like submitting your passport copy + visa copy + Travel Tax to the customs, will fill up the Passenger Charge Slip Form that anybody will find difficult. Of-course they will pay they bribe to customs that will cost you more money plus troubles if you want to do it by yourselves.
Once you provide your photo + passport in the port departure section & get the permission of entry by Bangladesh agency, you will have to collect the below form from Shyamoli NR Bus Supervisor (as I said this bus authority will do it for you), otherwise if you are going by yourself you will have to go room 104 & collect the below form by paying it. Then you will have to go Room 106 for customs check, then you are free to cross the border.
Once you are done with customs, you will have to work for border, Border Guard of Bangladesh will check your passport, visa, luggages at zero point.
Once you reach Indian Border, Indian Security Force (BSF) will check your luggages, of-course you will have to go India Customs Office to get your Arrival Signature in your passport, they will check your passport also. Again you will find the thing very comfortable if you are Shyamoli NR Travels ticket, because Indian customs ask for bribe for every person, they will manage it for you.

Starting for Sikkim from Indian Customs & Immigration
Once you cross Bangladesh & India Immigration, make sure you convert US Dollars / Bangladeshi Currency to Indian Rupee. You will have to take car for SIKKIM NATIONALISED TRANSPORT (S.N.T) PUBLIC RELATION OFFICE. Then enter inside “SIKKIM TOURIST INFORMATION CENTRE”. If you are Shyamoli NR Travels passenger, you will get car (arranged by them) & it will take you there.
Once you there you will have to fill up the below form. You will have to 5 Rupee for each form.
Once you get the above form, you can go through SIKKIM through BUS or TAXI. Normal bus will cost you 120 Rupee for each. It was 3:00pm when we got the form & finished our lunch. Its hard to get the bus after 3:00 pm & so we were forced to take the Taxi but having Taxi has more advantages like you can stop the taxi anytime, take pictures that you will find in road. Taxi will cost you 2000- 2500 Rupee, our Taxi cost 2500 Rupee :(.

We reached Rangpo – Mamring in 2 hours by Taxi where we needed to stamp our Passport, made sure we provided a Photocopy of Passport + VISA
While our 2 team members were busy with Passport Stamping, we enjoyed delicious Street Food Momo (chicken) around 6:34 pm, it was awesome.
Taxi Stopped – We did get off from Taxi at Upper Tadong – Deorali, Kanger Ghati National Park as thats where all the Taxi Stops.
From there we went to M.G. Park, Gangtok by Local Taxi which you can rent for yourself (100 Rupee) or you can Ride by Sharing with others (20 Rupee / 25 Rupee)

We have checked-in several Tourism Offices as without them you can get into Sikkim Traveling Places. It cost 14000 Rupee for 5 of us for 2 days & 1 Night Service that will take us North Sikkim.
